Description
This is a RARE PAIR (2) of hand painted then Kiln fired and antique victorian stained glass windows, CIRCA 1890, which was removed from a property in Manchester, U.K. often referred to as the Capital of the North . Per panel, there are 3 hand painted sections: 2 LOZENGES each offer beautiful and ornate hand painted FLEUR DE LYS with a central GREEN STAINED GLASS RONDEL; 1 CENTRAL MEDALLION which provides housing for a BIRD in its natural environment. The background glass is PRIVACY and of a heavy and deep texture. These antique stained glass windows would be very nice as sidelights or as a pair of windows in any environment. The colors are rich and not faded: PINK - GOLD - PALE BLUE - GREEN RONDELS and then, COBALT BLUE around the BIRDS. These panels offer a FANTASTIC SIGHT when sunlight reaches them. The glass seems to glow with a light of its own in the half light at dawn or dusk or even sometimes on a cloudy day. It is an attribute of this heavy old glass to collect and softly diffuse the colors of the light falling upon it. These beautiful antique stained glass windows have outlived their original frames; they have been re-housed in pine frames for display and for shipping purposes.
