Description
Up for auction is something you don't see every day- a LARGE, HEAVY antique original leaded cast iron fountain. I am selling this for an elderly neighbor-he's in the pictures to give an idea of the fountain's size. Reputed by this gentlemen to be circa 1880's, it is about 7 feet tall, I would estimate weight at somewhere around 700 lbs. Has been in his backyard many decades, he is retiring and would like it to go to a good home where it would be cared for and appreciated. The fountain is all original with the exception of the eagle. My neighbor had this eagle cast in masonry just for this fountain with the water able to be sent through the eagle for the fountain effect. While it is not original to the fountain he is including it also. Payment will be in US funds, either certified check, bank check or money order only. Sorry, I've had bad experiences with personal checks and on-line payments so we no longer accept them. Payment by successful bidder must be effected within five days or other accomodations can be made by contacting me in advance. If the succesful bidder fails to make contact within five days, we will relist and WILL file a non-paying bidder report. PLEASE take notice: This item does not belong to me personally, however I will make EVERY effort to answer any and all questions truthfully and factually. If I am unable to give the answer you seek I will put you in touch with the owner to get the information directly. PLEASE ask any and all questions you need, I am proud of my feedback and customer satisfaction and want to keep it that way. Please be sure of your information before bidding. As this is a large heavy item we cannot ship, loading, rigging and movement will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. This item is located in upstate New York approximately 50 miles from Binghamton and 90 miles from Albany. GOOD LUCK and THANK YOU for looking. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I have thoroughly examined this item closely today, can find only 1 small crack, approximately 3 inches long in the upper bowl. Please see closeup picture, the bowl is holding water but it looks as though it may seep over time as there is a rust streak. Can find NO other cracks, no missing, broken or chipped pieces. The owner states the item is cast in  pieces, base and three bowls and then all pieces are leaded together to form one piece. Owner states this was drained and covered every winter so there's no freeze damage. Has some surface rust as the pictures show, but nothing major, a thorough sandblasting or wirebrushing will clean it up very nicely. Thanks to ALL who have looked, and please ask any questions!
