The bell has a new spring in it but is otherwise original.  It works well and loudly.  It is really lovely with a very intricate design.  It is about 5" tall and the cord is 2 feet long.  On the back it has embossed "Pat . July 2, 1873, April 13, 1873, July 4, 1980."  This would make a great addition to any Victorian home....    Please note the shipping costs that Ebay displays includes the insurance costs as I require insurance coverage on most items within the US.  This protects the buyer from not only damage, but lost items as well.  This cost is minimal when you compare it to the cost of your item being lost..
