For your consideration we offer:   TH669 Rare Antique Wedgwood Children's Pastimes Tile c1880     Style/technique: Pictorial print Manufacturer: Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Pattern number; 357 Dimensions: 6" x 6" Date: circa 1880   A super tile of a young girl and boy playing shuttlecock printed in sepia. One of a very rare series of six idyllic scenes of boys and girls playing in the countryside in the style of Kate Greenaway. A rarely found series although well known of as they are noted by both Austwick and Lockett but perhaps only because of their appearance in the Wedgwood pattern book. Lockett includes a picture on page 159 of a drawing from the series taken from the Wedgwood pattern book. Verso quite clean, typical Wedgwood rails.
