The opening in front measures 47 5/8" tall by 35 1/4" wide. This old mantel is called a petticoat mantel, the long mirror on the left side was used for women to check their dresses and shoes. The long beveled mirror is in mint condition and measures 53 3/8" tall by 15 3/8" wide. The beveled mirror above the mantel shelf was used for the ladies to check their hats, petticoats and hats were very popular in the late 1800's and the early 1900's. The mirror above the shelf is in mint condition and measures 13 1/4" tall by 29 1/4" wide. The mantel has beautiful dentil trim throughout which gives the mantel a great look. The mantel has been professionally refinished and is in great condition. The mantel has a medium tone oak stain and a hand rubbed tongue oil satin finish.
